On April 18th I got home to find the cement buggy and vibrator sitting in the driveway. Once again, Shawn told me what to rent and I did it.

On Saturday morning, the cement truck shows up on-time and W2TAG guides it down the driveway. There's 8 cubic yards of cement in there!

The cement truck is in position and ready to pour! We used a cement buggy and several wheelbarrows to move the cement from here to the tower base approximately 120 feet away.

K2SMD is the master of the buggy. When we did dry runs, it wouldn't make it up the ramp because it would slip back down. Shawn assured me it would have plenty of traction once it was loaded with cement, and it did! W2TAG and N2MM watch.

In it goes... KA-PLOP! Cement makes a lot of noise when dropped 8 feet!

One down, lots to go! As soon as K2SMD poured a load, N2MM and K2UT scooped out the rest and then pushed the cement around to fill the hole more evenly. After dumping the load, the buggy lost enough weight that it would slide back down the ramp.

K2SMD starts the really important part. Jason double-checks his work. The tower project provided a lot of entertainment for a four year old boy. Once it was finished, Jason would keep asking when "his" friend Shawn was coming back to work on more stuff in our back yard.

Jason checks Shawn's work.

Jason puts his handprints in the base. Megan put her footprints in once she woke up from her nap.

"Whatcha doing, Shawn?"

"When does this kid take a nap?"

Somebody needs to clean up this mess! The overturned plant pot in the background is covering my remote coax switching system. Once the tower was done, I moved it closer to the tower base.

Putting on the final touch!
